Today I attended a surprise party for a guy's 20 year celebration of being cancer-free. He has one lung, (ONE! LUNG!) and he is a mountain biker who also rides for Team in Training, the organization that raises money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Of the 30+ people there, at least half are involved with Team in Training, and the majority of them are involved because either they or someone very close to them has cancer. It was overwhelming to be in a room full of people that are so touched by tragedy, yet stay so positive and motivated.
